Penrhyn Road Kingston Upon Thames

Planning submitted for an 11 home residential led mixed-use retail and commercial scheme.

This former car repair workshop site is located on the edge of Kingston Town centre, adjacent to the Penrhyn Road Campus of Kingston University, and our proposal reflects the need to regenerate this under-utilised site which currently contains a car repair facility – a use that is increasingly incompatible with surrounding residential neighbours.

The project proposes a residential led mixed-use development of 11 dwellings over a retail and commercial space, significantly enhancing the setting, character and sustainability of this sensitive location and it’s near context, as well as providing much needed housing in the borough. The carefully considered design addresses the principal frontage on Penrhyn Road, while acknowledging the secondary corner with Southsea Road, the residential entrance being located on this secondary and less busy side.  The building engages considerately with its residential neighbours, and has received broad support from local residential groups.
