Won in competition with BAM Properties, the office building on the site of the former Canon Cinema provides a striking, contemporary addition to the Stockport streetscape. As a gateway into the re-vamped St Peter’s Square, the new building forms a key part of the “Future Stockport” strategy and the wider regeneration of the town centre.

Fronting onto Wellington Road South, the main arterial road cutting through the centre of Stockport Town Centre and linking the Cheshire suburbs with Manchester City Centre, the building contains 4 upper floors of Grade A office space with a total net area of 47,000 sqft along with active ground floor non-offices uses and car parking for 16 cars in a semi-basement, achieving BREEAM Excellent certification.

A steel frame utilising cell-form beams has been incorporated affording 15 metre clear spans and the avoidance of intermediate columns. Through the careful placement of its single core and the optimisation of primary space, secondary space and escape distances a net:gross approaching 90% has been generated on each of the building’s three typical upper floors.

A double storey reception space faces onto St Peter’s Square creating an appropriate destination business address for the building and an active backdrop to the square itself. A set back top floor creates an aspirational executive boardroom space offering fantastic views over the town centre and a new benchmark for office design in Stockport.
