2018 saw us host our 4th New Creative Talents. This bi-annual event sees 5plus offer a select number of graduates from the Manchester School of Art the opportunity to exhibit their work in our practice over a number of weeks. The event is aimed at supporting the transition from education to industry. The culmination of the exhibition was once again an awards evening for creative attendees to judge the work, with the winning artist being awarded £500.
The judging panel to shortlist the artists comprised: Brigitte Jurack, Manchester School of Art; Mary Griffith, The Whitworth; and artist photographer Simon Buckley – alongside 5plus directors Jon Matthews, Paul Norbury and Tony Skipper.
The artists were: Stephen Barr; Rowan Batoctoy; Cade Burgess; Aixa Chambers Hale; Shahdom Farrokhnejad; Georgina Hall; Charlotte Harmsworth; N.O.N; Bethany Pounder; Emma Scott; Arthur Simons; and Freda Wilken.
Georgina Hall was the eventual winner whilst others found success through the sale of pieces on the night. Furthermore, the work of Aixa Chambers Hale now subtly adorns our office walls – check it out next time you are here.
