Plans Approved for John Dalton House, Manchester

Our plans to transform John Dalton House in central Manchester into a landmark hotel for client Royal London have been approved.

The scheme will give the building a new role and capitalise on its key corner location on Deansgate between the prime business area of Spinningfields and the civic quarter.

Two extra storeys will be added to create a total of 85,000 sq ft and Mulberry Square, with its distinctive tree, will be reinvigorated to provide a new urban space whilst externally a bold new bronze anodized facade will reflect its new role whilst maintaining the existing restaurants and retail at ground floor level.

The elevational treatments reflect the significance of the location and capture the colour palette of Deansgate referencing existing fine sandstone buildings. The corner picture window and increased height help the building ‘turn the corner’ from Deansgate to John Dalton Street into the more protected character of Mulberry Square.
Internally the concrete framed building will be reconfigured to create 215 bedrooms offering 3*accommodation with a double height entrance off John Dalton Street.
