Working with clients Trafford Leisure and Trafford Council, we have developed proposals to transform this dated building into an attractive fit for purpose leisure facility for the local community.

While retaining the bulk of the building, the changes to the end user will be significant. The pool and sports hall components are to be retained and refurbished whilst a new double height glazed elevation will transform the front of the building. This space integrates a climbing wall and mezzanine gym floor alongside a new reception and café facility at the heart of the building.

The design rethinks the traditional concept of cellular fitness suites as rooms off corridors and expresses them as activity zones within the new build element which are highly visible and a beacon for the new Urmston Leisure Centre.

The project is part of our expanding portfolio of work in the leisure sector and reinforces our ongoing agenda to promote health and wellbeing. The scheme achieved planning in January 2019 with work scheduled to start on site in spring 2019.
