We are working with Turner & Townsend, who have been appointed as Project Managers, to design the fit-out for the British Council’s prestigious new global headquarters at the International Quarter London (IQL).
The British Council has taken the ground, first and second floor of S9, the third building developed by Lendlease, which forms part of an emerging neighbourhood (IQL) next to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, London.
The project will include a multi-purpose space on the ground (including exhibition/gallery space) and a large south facing terrace at first floor overlooking the Olympic Stadium and park.
The building has triple glazed climate wall façades and an exposed concrete frame, with all floors linked by a series of double height spaces and atrium to connect and coordinate with the different working environments.
The British Council is a fantastic institution, an international organisation for cultural relations and education spreading opportunities for learning, art and networks and the interior needs to reflect and accommodate this diverse role.
The International Quarter London (IQL) is a legacy of the hugely successful 2012 Games creating a new destination for far sighted companies and organisations contributing to a wider place, providing new homes and leisure activities surrounded by open space and parkland.
Cancer Research UK has also chosen this building as its new base and they join Transport for London (TfL) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) at IQL.
