We have been commissioned to design a student residence scheme on an important gateway site on Walnut Tree Close, on the principal southern approach to Guildford in Surrey. The site is also on the western bank of the River Wey.
Our response is a considered series of high quality buildings that are sympathetic to the historic context of the town as well as the mixed urban and riverside location.
The scheme will deliver extensive landscaped gardens, large common areas and student facilities including student lounge, gym and cinema, a total of 361 units – some as individual studios, but the majority set out in clusters on each floor to encourage student interaction.
Externally the emphasis is on balancing the differences between the ‘town and the park’ and in creating active uses with communal gardens and planted terraces with landscaping to promote the use of the river walkway.
We are delighted to be working once again with client Sladen Estates and Peveril Securities on this project which has now been submitted for Planning.
