We are delighted to say that all proceeds from the “You Live With Us, We Live With You” book will go to the Manchester charity 42nd Street to help fund its wonderful creative work with young people.
The charity is a near neighbour of ours on Great Ancoats Street, occupying a wonderful building designed by Maurice Shapiro.
It has been helping young people aged 11-25 years for the last 38 years, providing free and confidential services to those who are experiencing difficulties with their mental health and emotional wellbeing.
This work by its nature is private and inward facing but last year it opened an add on, The Horsfall, which allows the young people the opportunity to tell their stories and express themselves and their emotions through creative work.
The Horsfall is based in an adjoining converted building, designed by Roger Stephenson, and open to all.
42nd Street Chief Executive Simone Spray said: “We are keen to connect with local businesses and involve them in the work at The Horsfall to foster a better understanding of the problems many young people face.
“Donating all proceeds from sales of the book is a wonderful gesture and the book itself could be an inspiration offering a different perspective on how we view buildings, or how we view life. We are very grateful.”
The book, a collaboration with artist Simon Buckley, is one of this year’s highlights for us – 18 months in the making, 100 pages , 69 photographs, ten tantalising essays, ten line drawings, all beautifully printed and bound.
Copies cost £30 and are available from our Manchester studio at The Hive on Lever Street or via Simon Buckley’s website:
