Planning Approval for Bath Road, Bournemouth

Our proposals to create a world-class building and new public realm on an important gateway site in Bournemouth have been approved.

The scheme will deliver an 11-storey 131-bed boutique hotel with extensive public facilities, including conference rooms, café, restaurant, spa,fitness facilities, a pool, and a sky bar with panoramic views across Bournemouth and out to sea.

It will also deliver 66 high quality apartments, the majority of which are dual aspect, have private terraces and views to the water. New public realm works include the creation of a new tree-lined promenade along the front of the site – a re-instatement of a historic pine walk – and improvements to the pedestrian accessibility and movement to and around the site.

The approval, for client Fresh Lime Developments, follows wide-ranging and robust consultation, which assisted the design process and resulted in wide community support.

As a practice we believe the process is as important as the outcome.

This is a highly considered and well-articulated response to an important, but currently derelict site, and we are pleased to have contributed to the town and its architectural and economic credentials.
