Northampton’s Final Future High Streets Fund Bid Submitted

In late June 2020, following over a year of work with Northampton Borough Council and the Northampton Forward Board, we were delighted to see the final bid for Northampton Town Centre submitted for the Government’s Future High Streets Fund (FHSF). If successful, the £12m bid will be used to redevelop key sites across the Town Centre.

5plus produced the early vision piece then prepared the town centre masterplan. We then followed on with a number of the key catalyst regeneration projects proposed in the bid. Each project aligns with the board’s long-term strategic objectives to rejuvenate the Town Centre.

The business case submitted by the Board seeks funding to enable the delivery of improvements drawn from the 5plus-led masterplan. The aim is to address the need for public investment and set the tone for the future direction of the Town Centre whilst acknowledging the importance of making Northampton attractive to both residents and visitors.

Alongside our role on the FHSF bid, we have also recently worked with the Council to design a scheme for the M&S Store on Abington Street. We have explored proposals for the redevelopment of the site to deliver 190 apartments with ground floor leisure.
