Congratulations to Georgina Hall whose work transforming our large meeting room white board into an intricate art piece, garnered most votes at our 4th New Creative Talents event.
Georgina, from Shropshire, wants to “evoke wonderment in the seemingly wonderless” be that an advertising street sign or the chairs and tables in MMU’s canteen or, indeed, our meeting room. Random rubbish bins in Bury painted pristine white? – that’s Georgina.
She was one of 12 graduates from Manchester School of Art whose work was displayed around our studio at The Hive and received a cash prize.
It was, as always, an uplifting and inspiring evening – an opportunity for the artists to take the next step out of academia and expand their networks and the chance for guests to meet and invest – as some did – in new talent.
The work of Aixa Chamber Hale now subtly adorns our office walls – check it out next time you are here.
Our thanks to the panel who helped shortlist this year’s artists – Brigitte Jurack, Manchester School of Art, Mary Griffith, The Whitworth and artist photographer Simon Buckley – alongside directors Jon Matthews, Paul Norbury and Tony Skipper.
The artists were:
- Stephen Barr
- Rowan Batoctoy
- Cade Burgess
- Aixa Chambers Hale
- Shahdom Farrokhnejad
- Georgina Hall
- Charlotte Harmsworth
- Bethany Pounder
- Emma Scott
- Arthur Simons
- Freda Wilken
Huge credit too, to our own graphic genius Richard Nicholls who designed the brochure detailing each of the artists, together with examples and an explanation of their work. It is in itself a beautiful thing and also contains contact details for all the artists. Please get in touch if you would like a copy.
Our thanks also to Jo, Nat and Jenny without whom the whole event would not happen and to the guests who supported.
