Planning Consent for a Grade II Listed Mill in Chipping

Our scheme for the redevelopment of a Grade II listed Arkwright Mill in the heart of the Ribble Valley has received planning consent at appeal.

Kirk Mill is a wonderful old building close to the centre of the village of Chipping in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB) and the site needed comprehensive but sensitive masterplanning.

The Grade II listed mill still retains its original water wheel and gearing mechanism and its use as a hotel with restaurant and bar on the ground floor will allow public access to these retained features.

Contextual modern interventions increase the viability of the building as a wedding venue and conference centre. There will also be a small trailhead centre.

Our scheme includes the provision of new housing, including affordable homes and four self-build plots on a site that had been the village cricket pitch. The pitch is being re-provisioned to a more suitable location in the village with the addition of a new pavilion.
